Titanium Corrugated Tubes: Rethinking Aquaculture Facilities : ATX’s Solution to Corrosion, Installation, and Thermal Efficiency—All at Once

Aquaculture facilities are not merely collections of tanks.
They are complex operational environments where water temperature control, circulation, energy efficiency, and—above all—long-term stable operation must be achieved simultaneously. Because of these characteristics, piping and heat exchange systems applied to aquaculture facilities must be approached with fundamentally different criteria than those used in general industrial installations.

In particular, aquaculture facilities are constantly exposed to conditions such as saline seawater or brackish environments, feed residues and organic matter, repeated cleaning processes, and seasonal water temperature fluctuations. As a result, piping and heat exchange equipment are continuously subjected to corrosion, leakage, and performance degradation.

Structural Limitations of Conventional Aquaculture Piping and Heat Exchange Systems — and ATX’s Design Approach

※ Conventional aquaculture piping and heat exchange systems

Aquaculture facilities impose the following requirements simultaneously:

• Stable corrosion resistance in seawater and saline environments • The ability to accommodate complex piping routes and limited installation space • On-site installation and maintenance without specialized labor • Efficient heat exchange with minimal energy loss

However, conventional metal piping and PVC piping systems struggle to meet all of these requirements at once. PVC piping is not structurally designed for heat exchange applications, and its durability and heat transfer performance are clearly limited under repeated high- and low-temperature conditions. General metal piping, on the other hand, often proves unsuitable for aquaculture environments due to corrosion issues and high installation complexity.

※ ATX’s Approach: Titanium Corrugated Tubes Designed for Aquaculture Environments

Based on its industrial special-metal processing expertise, ATX has developed and manufactures Titanium Corrugated Tubes specifically optimized for aquaculture facility environments.

Titanium corrugated tubes integrate the following characteristics into a single piping solution:

• The inherent corrosion resistance of titanium • Flexibility derived from the corrugated structure • High thermal conductivity enabled by thin-wall construction

The key point is that this is not simply a change of material, but a structural design developed on the premise of the actual operating conditions faced by aquaculture facilities.

Easy Installation with Flexible Tubes — Manual Tools Only

Aquaculture facilities often involve complex piping routes due to inter-tank connections, distances from heat sources, and spatial constraints. Straight-line piping designs increase the burden of both installation and maintenance.

Titanium corrugated tubes are flexible enough to be bent by hand, allowing easy adaptation to curves, elevation differences, and complex routing. Cutting can be performed using simple manual tools, and socket-type connections enable installation without any welding processes.

It can be bent by hand and easily cut.

Thin-Wall Corrugated Tubes with High Heat Transfer Efficiency!

Water temperature control in aquaculture directly affects productivity. Thanks to the structural strength provided by the corrugated geometry, titanium corrugated tubes can be manufactured with wall thicknesses as thin as approximately 0.3T.

Compared to conventional straight titanium tubes (typically 0.5T or thicker), this significantly reduces thermal resistance, enabling faster and more efficient heat transfer under identical conditions. As a result, stable water temperature control can be achieved while reducing overall energy consumption.

In addition, the corrugated structure greatly expands the effective heat transfer surface area. Titanium corrugated tubes can achieve the same level of heat exchange surface area with approximately 40% shorter length than straight tubes. This allows efficient heat exchange systems to be implemented even in confined spaces, delivering both reduced equipment size and improved energy efficiency simultaneously.

Coiled Supply for Easy Transport and Storage — Up to 100 m in a Single Length

Titanium corrugated tubes are supplied in coiled form, with lengths of up to 100 meters available. This significantly reduces volume, lowers logistics costs, enables parcel delivery, and minimizes on-site storage requirements—making it particularly suitable for aquaculture facilities located in coastal or remote areas.

Moreover, titanium corrugated tubes are not limited to a single type of equipment and can be applied across a wide range of aquaculture systems, including:

• Heating and cooling heat exchange piping • Inter-tank circulation lines • Seawater intake and discharge piping • Piping connected to heat pumps and boilers • Waste heat recovery and energy-saving systems

Being used stably for 7 years in many aquaculture farms.

ATX’s Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply System — Simpler and More Efficient Aquaculture Facilities

ATX manufactures titanium corrugated tubes directly in Korea, and all products undergo pressure testing and quality inspection prior to shipment. Currently, ATX is the only company in the global market capable of commercial-scale production and stable supply of this product, enabling consistent quality control and rapid delivery.

Titanium corrugated tubes integrate solutions to the long-standing challenges of aquaculture facilities—corrosion, installation difficulty, and thermal efficiency—into a single piping solution.

Drawing on decades of experience in industrial special-metal design, processing, and manufacturing, ATX provides a technically grounded solution that is practically applicable to the unique conditions of aquaculture environments. This represents a technical choice that goes beyond simple material supply, reducing operational risk and securing long-term system stability.
